Welcome to Summer Eduventures at Peartree!
This July, we are excited to focus our explorations on three of the five ecosystems that exist on our planet and use many different scientific and mathematical concepts to dive deep into these unique worlds. In addition to digging into STEAM concepts of measurement, we'll allow elements of nature to inspire our artwork. Sign up online today!
Introduction to Ecosystems: July 5–July 8
Our summer begins with an introduction to three ecosystems; marine, forest, and freshwater. Our students will utilize maps to identify where these ecosystems exist and which ones are right within our own backyard.
Freshwater Ecosystem: July 11–July 15
Central Park Pond is right next door and chock-full of opportunity! Freshwater ecosystems are home to more than just fish. They also include algae, plankton, insects, amphibians, and underwater plants. Our environmentalists will not only learn about the inner workings but will also brainstorm ways to keep our local freshwater systems healthy.
Forest Ecosystem: July 18–July 22
Whether it’s a tall tree that creates the canopy in a tropical rainforest or an interesting species of plants that grows on the wooded forest floor, students will be able to compare and contrast the two systems, noting the animals along the way.
Marine Ecosystem - July 25–July 29
The majority of our planet is made up of large bodies of water, and marine ecosystems are the most abundant. Within these vast oceans live many of our favorite surface animals, such as sharks and whales, but we will also learn about some of the marine life that dwells at the bottom and maybe we didn’t even know was alive!
